Top Ten Entertainment Pieces on YouTube
51Preferences in Entertainment
When it comes to entertainment, your pickings for things that you find entertaining probably range greatly. For example, you might prefer something that’s physically in front of you, like an on-stage performance, but at the same time hanker for an IMAX viewing experience. Or perhaps you prefer something that’s easily accessible at home. But unfortunately, those more “portable” forms of entertainment can sometimes, at least in my opinion, be a bit boring and repetitive. You know what I mean. For example, there’s almost always an antagonist that looses and a protagonist that wins some goal. Fortunately, there is one portable form of entertainment out there that isn’t quite as orthodox, so it spices things up a bit.
Let’s Go YouTubin’
The source of entertainment that I’m referring to is YouTube. I know what you’re probably thinking -and yes, it is the site known for incredibly dumb videos and auto tunes of just about every video imaginable- but it also houses a couple of shows that are genuinely entertaining, in my opinion. Don’t believe me? OK then, why don’t I just make a little top ten list of the channels/ topics that I find the most appealing? I bet you that at least one of these channels you’ll come out liking as well.
10. Fred
Say hello to the squeaky little teen that goes through life somehow finding challenges everywhere. Whether it is difficulty in swimming (in a small, inflatable pool at that), or having issues with being a bit too impulsive at a department store. Wherever he is, you will probably find his erratic behavior hilarious.
9. The Annoying Orange
Meet the fruit of the loom that is anything but normal. Watch his endeavors in constantly annoying different guests that come to his kitchen- usually to death. Though the humor is essentially dumb, I still find it pretty comic.
8. *Homemade Fail Compilations
They’re like America’s Funniest Home Videos, but they’re on-demand. These compilations range from people failing at pulling pranks on others to having accidents while riding, say, bikes. Though the humor is pretty primitive in concept, some of the fails still spark some laughter with me.
7. *Television Bloopers Caught on Tape
There’s almost nothing better to watch than anchors mispronouncing a word as something that is just a little inappropriate. Though embarrassing for the stars themselves, it is presumably hilarious for both you and me.
6. Liam Kyle Sullivan
He was the creator of several rather famous YouTube characters, including Kelly, a rebellious teenage girl who is supposed to also be a bit hot-headed in nature. That character, in particular, has her fair share in comedy, in my opinion
5. Just for Laughs
Meet one of the greatest channels that specifically houses videos of pranks done by people around the world. It seems to have its fair share of laughs of its own that will exist for years to come.
4. College Humor
Though this channel is primarily geared towards a college bound audience, as the channel name implies, I as a high school student still find this channel in particular to be amusing. This channel ranges from parodies of real-life things to recurring series designed to be funny in an awkward sense.
3. Hulu Dot Com
This proprietary channel, also having its own website, has clips from popular television shows ranging from The Simpsons to Family Guy. The clips themselves, in my opinion, have been selected perfectly by the staff there.
2. *Discontinued Shows
Some of the older shows, such as The Three Stooges, that have long since disappeared from the airwaves can now be viewed on YouTube. The Three Stooges, in particular, would be recommended for entertainment by me anywhere, anytime.
1. AniBoom
Also having its own website, AniBoom is a channel that provides an array of user-created animations- in both 2D and 3D animation- not to be confused with the kind of 3D that requires glasses for viewing. It is my number one pick because the entertainment there is very versatile, as the videos there are, as I said before, user-created. They range from rather sad pieces like AniBoom’s The Piano, to Pixar-style plots like RAM.
